Christina and Ivan met in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Christina had moved to Albuquerque for school and Ivan was working at Sandia National Laboratories. They found themselves wanted to spend more and more time together. They both have a dry sense of humor and love poking fun at each other. Being able to laugh together daily and not take themselves too seriously really makes for a fun relationship and partnership. Ivan had purchased a ring in February 2020, right before the pandemic hit. He had been planning to propose during the summer while they were traveling, but the plans were canceled due to COVID. By September, it was obvious that the pandemic was going to last longer than everyone had anticipated. Ivan said he couldn’t wait any longer and got down on one knee while they were eating pizza in bed at home. The next night they had an outdoor “going away” party in Albuquerque with their friends as they were about to move to Austin, which also ended being an engagement party. They love going out in Austin, whether that’s hiking/paddle boarding, hearing live music, dancing salsa/bachata, attending the Austin symphony orchestra, or just trying a new restaurant with friends.
