Nani and Deron met while both attending SDSU. They happened to be in the same anatomy class and lab! Nani was studying nursing while Deron was studying to be a physical educator. Nani and Deron hit it off and the rest is history! Once these two love birds got engaged they started off their venue search… that brought them to the beautiful Grand Tradition. It was love at first sight. Nani also went to high school in Fallbrook so it was a perfect fit.

“Picking the Grand tradition as my venue was perhaps the best decision I made in my wedding planning process. Here’s my story… I initially booked my wedding at a location in Santa Monica, CA. It was a total disaster that, luckily, fell-through. I was devastated. It was 4th of July weekend and I was visiting my family in San Diego (I live in the SF Bay Area) and I was just heart-broken about what to do with my wedding. I had heard about the Grand tradition, and from photos it looked beautiful but I was hesitant about reaching out because I didn’t think they would let me have a wedding past 10 or maybe 11 pm. Boy was I wrong. I was also hesitant because I didn’t love the idea of my wedding being in Fallbrook. Boy was that stupid. My wedding AKA most amazing party ever lasted till 1:00 am.

I went and looked at the venue with my now husband and we instantly fell in love. Because we were such a last minute drop-in we got the pleasure of touring the venue with Don, the owner. He was incredibly pleasant, kind, and you could tell that he puts his heart into making sure everything is just perfect for every couple. He cherishes his property and it shows through the meticulously kept grounds, through hiring the best of staff, and maintaining the property so that it is modern yet keeps with it’s elegant Victorian image.

After we booked the perks kept coming! Side note: in the wedding industry, once you book, it seems like the perks stop, and the negatives start to show, but not with Grand Tradition. Once we booked we were assigned an absolutely AMAZING coordinator (couples, this is where you can save some money, forget hiring your own wedding coordinator) you couldn’t ask for a better team. I was so lucky! I got Kelsey Gepner to assist me. I don’t even know how she put up with me. She saw me at my worst, and hopefully my best 🙂 She made me sane! She was understanding, compassionate, and tough when she needed to be (unruly guests) she made my vision come true. She literally spent hours upon hours with us making sure she got the timeline just perfect, making sure she asked every single possible question. You know how they say every wedding day will have some slip up, something that won’t go according to plan? It’s a lie, you just need Kelsey and the Grand Tradition. Everything was seriously so organized that my day was just a super fun breeze, I partied and danced like there was no tomorrow, and I owe this to Kelsey, she took all my stress and concerns and made them vanish- like magic!

Kelsey deserves so much praise- a few days before my wedding I asked if she had a cup of sorts to hold pens for guests to sign into the guest book- she of course made that happen, from her own personal stuff (it was pretty too, glass with pretty crystals inside), she made sure my husband and I were served our own platter of hor d’evours (a server pretty much followed me all of cocktail hour with delicious morsels) and just in case I didn’t get my fill, as soon as we were seated for reception a special platter came straight to us. She made my impossible bustle on my dress happen (with the help of Chanel, I believe her name was. Who was also a sweet-heart!).She also whipped my food caterer into shape with the help of the head chef. Oh and side note: the food at the venue is amazing, the only reason I brought in an outside food caterer is because we had a Persian wedding so we needed to serve Persian food to our guests. I am just so grateful, there aren’t enough words, thank you so much Kelsey!

Here’s another little golden nugget- my sister got married a year and a half ago- things were so stressful right before the wedding, we were close to 2 hours late starting ceremony. A lot of this happened because of my family. My family tends to run late, be unorganized, and be indecisive. With my wedding I literally had a moment when I stopped my husband and I asked him “do you see what time it is? Do you realize that we are showing up at the venue almost 2 hours early? Never in my life have I been early to anything with my family” My entire family was there, 2 hours early! This was because Kelsey kept us on track with everything.

Oh and lastly things don’t skip out on cocktail hour at the Orchid Bar: everyone loved the duck quesadillas and the Lamb (mmm yum!) oh and the ambiance is pretty good too ;)”
